In our cross-carrying shirt, we see Jesus having fallen from the effort of carrying 120 pounds of wood through the streets and up a hill after having been beaten and harassed for an extended period and on no sleep in we know at least 48 hours.

We don’t know if his family and friends were as close as they are depicted in the painting, but we do know that they were there and were afraid to act, BUT Simon of Cyrene was not. I don’t know the man, but I would be proud to have been the one pulled out of the crowd and tasked with helping Jesus.

This shirt gives you a chance to be that man. Somebody may stop you while you are wearing it and ask you about holes that Jesus has filled for you, how your life is going and how Jesus has changed that life, they may ask you why you follow Jesus, or they may ask you what the heck you are doing wearing something like that.

Whatever they ask, take five seconds while you gather yourself together, open your notebook, or your phone, and ask for God’s blessing and then be that blessing. Your words can’t be wrong when your faith is strong.

Pick up that cross and help your Savior to the hill. He is counting on you to reach his sheep, be his eyes, ears, voice, and presence in the world.
